Marigold Project Gets Help From Legislature

The Marigold property project in North Mankato may be getting a boost from state lawmakers...Rep. Terry Morrow says a plan for tax increment financing to help the city with the project will be attached to a jobs bill that cleared the House Tax Committee today.North Mankato City Administrator Wendell Sande says the plan will expand the city's tax increment district to fit the project.Wendell Sande says, "it will enable us to assist more development and redevelopment in the downtown area. It is a great step forward in a push to revitalize downtown."The Marigold lot on Belgrade Avenue has been vacant for 20 years.The city hopes to start construction on a mixed residential-commercial development in May.Sande says the project will be important for job creation.
