As the snow continues to come down tonight, conditions out on the roads are getting worse. The State Patrol responded to over 3 dozen cars stuck in the snow before noon... and the numbers will likely continue to rise.News 12's Nathan Harrington joins us live with a view of Lookout Drive in North Mankato.Nathan, how are the roads looking as people head home for the evening.Dion, Nicole, roads are slick. And it has a lot to do with the type of snow we are getting. It's the light, fluffy stuff that really slicks up the roads in a hurry.Law enforcement had their hands full responding to several incidents.Since this morning Minnesota State Patrol has responded to 50 vehicles in the ditch, 17 damage to property accidents, and 2 personal injury accidents in the Mankato district. As of now, MnDOT is not anticipating closing any highways, but is advising no unnecessary travel in the area. The city of Mankato is taking control of the hills in the city, already closing Parkway Avenue.Even in downtown this morning and afternoon, driving was difficult with visibilities down to a quarter mile. And for those that weren't driving in the city, removing the snow from sidewalks and parking lots took an extra effort.Snowplow drivers have been out trying to keep up with the heavy snowfall. But at least one was sidelined today with a blown transmission during a run.Schools let out early today but no word yet on the status of those schools tomorrow.Again only one hillside street in Mankato is closed, that's Parkway Avenue. So to recap, no highways are closed as of yet, but if the winds pick up enough tonight, that could change. And no travel is advised... but if you do have to head out... take your time and be careful.Nathan, people are probably wondering about snow emergencies.Have any been issued yet?Not as of yet, but the city of Mankato is expecting to issue one on Tuesday.Of course we'll keep everyone update on the latest conditions.
