Local Construction Company Helps Fight Child Hunger

September eleventh is designated as a day of giving after the tragic events of 2001.  One local construction company took the day of giving to heart by raising some big funds for Kids Against Hunger.

Holtmeier Construction is sponsoring Rocks for Rice and donating 100 percent of today's sales.  The lofty pledge is one Joe Holtmeier hopes others strive for.

Joe Holtmeier of Holtmeier Construction says, "I would like to see everyone push themselves to where it hurts a little bit, or to where you feel it and say 'I don't know if I can do that', but you step out in faith and you go for it."

A goal has been set at 20 thousand dollars.  Tim Stromer with Kids Against Hunger says he is excited to put the money to good use.

Tim Stromer says, "What Joe hopes to raise is upwards of $20,000. $20,000 would feed 80,000 kids so we're pretty happy about that."

Holtmeier Construction ended up raising $20,725 in cash donations.  That's enough to buy 82, 901 meals.
